Friend,

You are invited to the Chronic Care Collaborative's virtual Chronic Disease Awareness Week!

This year we will be hosting all Chronic Disease Awareness Week events virtually due to COVID-19. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 3rd from 12:00 – 1:30pm for our kickoff event featuring remarks from Colorado Representative David Ortiz and ALS advocate Sandra Abrevaya. Following comments from our speakers, we will cover meaningful strategies to influence policy by sharing your story and learn about health policies being considered now at the State Capitol.

By registering for Chronic Disease Awareness Week, you'll receive the zoom link for the March 3rd kickoff event and invites for virtual legislator meetings that will be throughout the week of March 8th. Our staff will do their best to match attendees with their own state legislators. However please keep in mind that legislator schedules can be unpredictable, therefore you may be invited to meet with a state legislator from a different district if meeting with your legislator is not possible. By registering you will also receive information on various digital ways to engage with Colorado policy makers on your own time to make your voice heard.

Feel free to share this invite if you know of others who may be interested in participating. Please note, if you are unable to attend the virtual program on March 3rd, a recording will be provided. Additionally, we will have options if you prefer to meet with legislators by phone. Even if you are unsure if your schedule allows you to participate, please register and share your story - we'll help pass it along to legislators for you!

Thank you all for your advocacy and commitment to improving health policy in Colorado for people living with chronic conditions!

March 3rd

12:00pm – 1:30pm

Join chronic disease advocates from across Colorado for a virtual launch event to hear from keynote speaker Sandra Abrevaya, who co-founded I Am ALS with her husband Brian Wallach after he was diagnosed with ALS at age 37.  Watch this video to learn more about how Sandra and Brian are creating hope and change for people with ALS by sharing their story and building on their careers at the White House and in Congress to help others like them.

State Rep. David Ortiz will welcome attendees at the kickoff event to share his story on going from a veteran living with a spinal cord injury, to advocate, to a Colorado legislator and provide an update on the 2021 legislative session.
